Join Susan Wefald as she officially launches her new book "Drought, Dust, & Creativity – North Dakota's Art Scene During the Great Depression." She will share findings and photos and discuss how creativity flourished in the 1930's around Bismarck-Mandan. New buildings featured unique art projects. Local WPA administrators encouraged live theater, original ceramics, a new guidebook for North Dakota, and the creation of delightful costume dolls. Exquisite Lakota bead and quill work was created.
The program is free and open to the general public. Refreshments will be served.
